Air heating – cooperation with a recuperator

Water heating, although it is still the most popular in Poland, it is not the only central heating system. Instead, we can opt for air heating, in which the function of the heat source is performed by a blow-in heating furnace fired with natural gas, liquid or heating oil. The air heated in it is transported through ventilation ducts to the rooms and blown into them through the supply grilles. The main advantage of this heating system is the possibility of combining it with ventilation, therefore the investment costs are limited to only one, common installation. If we decide on an air heating system, we can supplement it with an air handling unit with heat recovery (recuperator), which will make a significant contribution to reducing fuel consumption. This is a great solution for energy saving fanatics. In practice, it is possible to recover heat from the air from rooms such as: bathroom and kitchen, where the air is discharged directly into the atmosphere. Using an additional air handling unit with a cross-flow exchanger, we can use significant amounts of this heat to heat fresh outdoor air sucked in by the blower furnace. In winter, the energy savings for this can be quite large. ventilation central (e.g.. Mistral) can be installed at a later date, which spreads the expenses related to the system over time.

Is every building suitable for installing air heating in it??

In fact, yes, although there are some exceptions. Blow-in furnaces and operating parameters of the installation prefer this type of heating in buildings with an area above 80 m2. Thus, in buildings with a small area, this heating cannot be used. The second exception is multi-family housing. Here, too, there is the problem of small space and system control (one heating device would have to serve more than one apartment).

Frame buildings are the best for this purpose, e.g.. Canadian type, where hiding air ducts does not increase installation costs. In brick buildings (if it is not possible to distribute air heating ducts under the floor or in the attic, hiding them requires additional buildings. In this case, it is important to design higher storeys, e.g.. 2,70 m, so that some of the cables can run in the suspended ceiling. Installation of the installation is best done in buildings that are in a rough state. Modifications of existing central heating installations. for air heating installations in already inhabited buildings, can turn out to be expensive, and even unprofitable.


The installation of the air heating and recuperation system should be made of materials with good acoustic and thermal protection. The selection of material should take into account: type of building (single-family, office, industrial, gastronomic), air parameters (humidity, pressure, flow velocity), mounting method (indoor, outdoor), the degree of dust in the air (whether the channels will have to be mechanically cleaned).

A properly designed and constructed air heating and mechanical ventilation system ensures efficient and failure-free operation for many years. Poorly designed, it causes increased noise and uneven temperature distribution in rooms. The design and implementation of such an installation should therefore be entrusted to a company that professionally deals with air heating and recuperation.
